On 18th November, the APPGs involved in adult social care – including that on autism – held a joint meeting with the Rt Hon Alistair Burt MP, Minister for Community and Social Care, to highlight the growing crisis in the sustainability of adult social care. The cutting of local government budgets has led to a significant reduction in social care budgets and the closure of residential homes and day centres. Many of the speakers called on the Government to ensure that the Spending Review took adequate account of the problem. The minutes of the meeting are here.
